The experience

I didn’t really know what to expect from a day trip to Colca Canyon. Just that people kept talking about the condors and how deep the canyon is. There were alpacas just standing around like they owned the place, and every now and then we’d pass tiny villages where women wore those bright embroidered hats. At Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, everyone got quiet waiting for the birds. It’s weird how silent it gets with that many people around. Then suddenly: wings overhead, huge shadows on the rocks below.
