Day 1: Travel from Salaverry to Cusco

The experience
The tour starts at 6 a.m. at Salaverry Port with a private transfer to Trujillo airport, a 36-minute drive. You board a flight at 7:50 a.m. with one stop in Lima, arriving in Cusco at 12:57 p.m., where your guide meets you and takes you to your hotel. The rest of day one is free to rest and acclimatize before the main event.
Day two is the full Machu Picchu experience. You leave your hotel at 6:30 a.m. for the train station and board at 7:35 a.m., reaching Aguas Calientes at 10:52 a.m. A tourist bus then carries you up to the citadel. Your guide walks you through the site for two hours, explaining the history and design as you move through the town square, religious sites, agricultural terraces and stone staircases. Built around 1450 at the height of Inca power, the site was abandoned within a century after the Spanish conquest. After the guided portion, you have time to explore on your own and take photographs before returning by bus to the train station and boarding the return train to Cusco, where the tour ends at your hotel.
On day three, a 6 a.m. transfer takes you to the airport for your 7:30 a.m. flight back to Lima. You arrive at 9:05 a.m. and are transferred immediately to El Callao Port to rejoin your ship. The operator covers all transfers, flights and accommodation, and guarantees to rearrange your pickup if your ship is delayed. Just notify them three to four days ahead. If a flight delay causes you to miss your ship's departure, they cover all transfers and get you aboard at the next port.
