The experience
Eight hours takes you from the center of Lahore 30 minutes out to Wagah Border, where Pakistani and Indian rangers perform a flag ceremony with crowd participation on both sides. The parade and roars from the audience give a direct sense of the border's energy. You return to the city to walk the Walled City's narrow streets (a compound of administrative buildings from the Mughal era), where the guide explains the history and culture layered into the architecture. Shahi Hammam, Masjid Wazir Khan and Gali Surjan Singh are the stops within this section.
Lahore Fort (Shahi Qila) rounds out the day. The fort's highlights include Dewane-e-Amm and Dewane-e-Khas (the public and private audience halls), Shish Mehal (the mirror palace), Picture Wall, Barood Khana (the ammunition house), the Tomb of Muhammad Iqbal and views of the adjoining Badshahi Masjid. The guide walks you through the rooms and courtyards, connecting the spaces to the Mughal dynasty that built them.
Hotel pickup and drop-off happen in an air-conditioned vehicle. The guide speaks English throughout, and all entrance tickets to the three sites are included in the booking.
