The experience
You arrive in Khasab with a free morning or afternoon and want to see the interior instead of the coast. The 4-wheel drive takes you inland from the town into the barren mountains of the Musandam Peninsula, climbing steadily toward Jebel Harim. The landscape here is stark (rock faces and ridges with almost no vegetation), and the road itself is part of the point: a proper mountain track that needs the vehicle's capability to navigate.
At Jebel Harim, 2,087 meters above sea level, you stand at the highest point in the region. The view opens across the peninsula in all directions, and the rocks around you carry fossils dating back several million years: the geological history of the place is written into the stone. On the way up or down, the route passes through Sayhe, a Bedouin village perched at 1,100 meters on the plateau. It is a quiet settlement, and the stop gives you a sense of how people live in this remote interior. Later, the tour reaches Khor Najd, described as the most panoramic view in the region: the point where the mountains drop toward the Indian Ocean. The final stop is the natural park of Acacia trees at Khalidiya before the drive back to Khasab.
The whole tour takes three hours, either 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., so it fits into a half-day schedule. Soft drinks and water are provided during the drive. Hotel pickup is included, so you do not arrange your own transport to the meeting point.

Is this one for you?Choose the morning departure if you want to reach the highest viewpoint before the afternoon heat builds. The afternoon slot works if you prefer a later start and do not mind driving in the heat of the day. Either way, you need a moderate level of fitness for the altitude and the rough mountain terrain, and the three-hour commitment fits into a half-day schedule.
