The Experience

Someone hands me a thick thermal suit before I even realize how cold it’ll get out there. Our guide, Erik, jokes about “Norwegian summer” as he helps zip me in—his accent’s soft but the humor’s sharp. The van smells faintly of wool and coffee, and we pull away from Tromso while the sky’s still that blue-grey color you only see up here.
