The experience
The Numedalslågen River is known for powerful, technical rapids that demand focus and teamwork. You'll paddle a raft through three hours of whitewater, working with your guide and crew to read the current and time each stroke. The water comes clean and cold from Hardangervidda National Park, and the river cuts through mountain terrain that stays wild and close to the park boundary. This is not a scenic float. It's a challenging mountain river where the rapids change constantly and every section brings a new line to run.
You get a wetsuit, wet shoes, life jacket and helmet before you launch. An experienced guide sits in the raft with you and manages the bigger decisions, but you're paddling the whole way. The company has run this river for over 30 years (Marianne and William have owned it since 2005), and they know every rapid and eddy. Transport from the meeting point to the river and back is included. If you need a round-trip shuttle from Geilo to Dagali, you can arrange that separately for NOK 200 per person. Coffee and tea are waiting at the end.
What’s included

Top questions
What does level 3 mean on the Numedalslågen River?
Level 3 rapids are technical and powerful, requiring solid paddling technique and physical effort. They're not beginner water. You need to be comfortable in moving current and ready to paddle hard when the guide calls it. The Numedalslågen is Norway's best-known rafting river precisely because its rapids demand this skill and commitment.
Do I need rafting experience to book this?
No prior experience is required. The guide will brief you on technique and safety before you launch, and they manage the raft's line through each rapid. What you do need is a high level of physical fitness and the ability to paddle continuously for three hours. This is an endurance activity as much as a technical one.
What's included in the price?
The guide, all safety gear (wetsuit, shoes, life jacket, helmet), transport to and from the river, and coffee or tea afterward are included. Lunch is not included. If you want photos or video of your run, those can be purchased for NOK 300.
How old do I have to be?
The minimum age is 15 years old. The activity is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnant travelers, or those with poor cardiovascular health: the physical demands and the impact of rapids on the body are real.
Where exactly do we launch and take out?
The rafting happens on the Numedalslågen River in Dagali, near Geilo in Norway. The company will provide the exact meeting point and parking details when you book. If you're coming from Geilo without a car, round-trip transport can be arranged for NOK 200 per person.
