The experience

Seven to eight hours gives you real time to move through Oslo at your own speed. You pick the vehicle size when you book (a sedan for two, or a minibus for up to seven), and the driver arrives at your hotel or airport to collect you. From there, the day is yours to shape. The operator suggests an Exclusive Highlights route that covers the major museums, parks and landmarks, but you're free to skip ahead, linger longer at one stop, or ask the guide to take you somewhere else entirely.

Vigeland Sculpture Park sits west of the city centre and is open around the clock. The guide can walk you through the hundreds of bronze and granite sculptures that trace the cycle of life, or you can wander on your own. Akershus Castle stands on the cape overlooking the city centre and has stood for over 800 years. The guide will walk you through its history. The Royal Palace sits on Karl Johan, Oslo's main street, where you can see the King's guards at the entrance. The Fram Museum houses two original polar exploration ships, including the 130-year-old Fram itself, which you can board. A multimedia film plays overhead as you stand inside. Oslo City Hall is where the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony takes place, though the venue sometimes closes for official city events.
