Tandem paragliding above Ohrid Lake in North Macedonia pairs a jeep ride through Galicica National Park with 10 to 20 minutes of flight time in the air, depending on weather. Hotel pickup and return are included. A government-certified pilot handles the flying while you experience the view. You choose between launching from 1700m for the highest vantage or 1300m for a different angle. GoPro video and photos come with every flight, and the whole outing runs two hours door-to-door.

The experience

The day starts with pickup from your hotel or apartment in Ohrid or Struga. A jeep carries you into Galicica National Park, climbing through forest to the launch site. Along the way you see the lake's coastal edge and the mountains that ring it. At the take-off place, the pilot, a government-certified tandem instructor, spends ten minutes walking you through the mechanics of launch and landing, so you know what to expect when you leave the ground.

Flight time runs 10 to 20 minutes depending on wind and weather that day. From the air you see the full lakeside: St. Zaum, Peshtani, Gradishte, the Bay of Bones, Trpejca, St. Naum, and the city of Ohrid itself spread below. You can request an acrobatic flight for more adrenaline if you want it. The operator's national team placed third in the 2023 FAI World Paragliding Championships, so the pilots know the thermals and the conditions here.

Insurance is included. So is the GoPro footage: photos and video captured during the flight so you have the moment recorded. The whole experience, from when the jeep picks you up to when it drops you back, takes two hours.
