You begin with instruction on how to operate your Segway before the route starts, so no prior experience is needed. Once you're steady, the guide leads the group around the shores of Lake Wakatipu, where the views open across the water. The pace is set by the guide, and the group stays small—eight people maximum—so you're not herding through a crowd.

The route passes through Queenstown Gardens, where you ride past interesting trees and take in views from around the peninsula's perimeter. On the 2-hour Queenstown Tour option, you also get a few minutes off the Segway to try another activity most people have never encountered, and the route extends farther along the lakeside to quieter areas away from the town centre. The 1-hour Bay Ride is a shorter introduction if you want just a taste of Segway riding.
