The experience
You get a fully automatic 400cc quad bike with 4WD and a safety briefing before the ride starts. The operator runs all training on-site, so whether you've ridden before or this is your first time on a quad, the guide assesses your confidence during that session and tailors the trails to match. If at any point a guide determines you're not ready to ride independently, you can ride as a passenger on the guide's bike instead: the option stays open.
The ride covers Queenstown Hill's network of trails, which shift between terrain types depending on the group's ability. You'll climb to hilltop views over Queenstown and the surrounding landscape. The 3.5-hour experience includes all-weather clothing, waterproof safety gear, the bike itself and a professional guide. Light refreshments (tea, coffee, hot chocolate, fruit cake and cookies) come after the ride.
Pickup happens from Info & Track on Shotover Street in central Queenstown, or you can drive to the Nomad Safaris base at Tucker Beach Recreational Reserve and meet the group there. The operator runs in all weather, so bring layers and expect to ride rain or shine. Minimum group size is two riders for a confirmed departure. On New Zealand public holidays, four riders are required.
Is this one for you?The guide speaks English and leads the commentary throughout the ride, so you need a good command of English to follow safety instructions and trail directions comfortably. Riders who can't communicate effectively in English aren't permitted to participate for safety reasons.

What happens if the weather turns bad?
The activity runs in all weather conditions. You'll wear all-weather, waterproof clothing and safety gear provided by the operator, so rain or wind won't stop the ride. Just dress in layers underneath.
How do I get picked up, and where do I meet the group?
Pickup is included from Info & Track on Shotover Street in central Queenstown. Alternatively, you can drive to the Nomad Safaris base at Tucker Beach Recreational Reserve (420 Tucker Beach Road) and meet the group there. Parking is free and the base is close to the quad bikes.
