The experience

You start with hotel pickup and move through Marlborough's wine region stopping at multiple venues: each one built around a different pairing of gourmet food and wine. The guide tailors the menu to what you want to taste, so the stops and the dishes shift based on your preferences. A complimentary glass of bubbly opens the day at your first tasting; at midday you get a wine-matched stop with cheese platters, salmon or terrine; later you stretch out on bean bags with wine and food platters at a high vantage point overlooking the Wairau Plains and vineyard acres. The final course happens as the sun sets before you head back.

Along the way you'll taste award-winning wine flights, sample local cheeses and oils, and see what's in season at roadside stalls. The venues vary.
