The experience

How do you want to spend an afternoon in Zwolle? Walking the same streets everyone else does, or following a story that turns the city itself into a puzzle? This game sends you to 20 stops, some famous landmarks and some corners locals know, each one hiding a riddle that moves the plot forward. You download the app, read the setup (the prince's army has returned, and your character needs to flee), and start whenever you're ready. The app guides you to each location and tells you what to solve there.

The story is set in 1787, when Gerrit Jan Pijman and other revolutionaries had their moment in Zwolle before the prince's forces came back to restore order. Now Pijman needs to find a secret key to one of the city gates to escape. You're the one doing the finding: walking between stops, reading clues on your phone, and figuring out the answer before moving to the next place. The game is built so you can move at your own pace. There's no guide waiting, no group to keep up with, and no schedule except the 2-hour window the game suggests. If you're still solving when time's up, extra playing time is included, so you finish the mission instead of abandoning it halfway.
