The experience
The day starts early with pickup from your Kathmandu hotel, then a private vehicle takes you to Panimuhan, where the hiking begins. You walk through the forest of Shivapuri National Park, climbing steadily for about two hours until you reach Nagi Gumba, a monastery perched above the valley. The views open up here: the Kathmandu valley spreads out below, and you stop for lunch and rest before the second half of the hike.
From Nagi Gumba, the trail continues downward toward Sundarijal, passing through Tare Bhir over the next three hours. The route stays famous for its panoramic views across the valley and for the waterfalls you pass along the way. Bird watching is possible throughout the day. The hike ends at Mulkharka Sundarijal, where your driver meets you for the return to Kathmandu.
