Children from age 1 are welcome, and blankets are provided on cold mornings.

Explore Etosha National Park and wildlife spotting

  • See the Etosha pan

The experience

The Etosha pan itself is the draw: a vast white expanse of salt and mineral deposits where wildlife congregates around waterholes. Your guide, born and raised in Etosha, knows exactly which hotspots hold the big 4 (lions, rhinos, leopards and elephants) and when they are most likely to appear. The vehicle is equipped for the gravel roads that crisscross the park, with a first aid kit and fire extinguisher on board, and the driver handles all navigation so you can focus on watching.

A full day runs 10 hours. A half day is shorter if you want to fit other plans around it. Both options include private transportation in a vehicle built for this terrain. On cold mornings, blankets are provided. Infants can ride in a pram or stroller, and children from age 1 travel on an adult's lap. The guide speaks English and will explain what you are seeing as the day unfolds.

Park entrance fees are not included in the tour price and are paid separately at the gate. Public transportation options exist nearby if you need them, though the private vehicle is part of what makes the routing flexible.
