The experience

Etosha National Park spans 22,270 square kilometers and holds one of Africa's most intact wildlife systems. The park is home to white and black rhinos, lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes and numerous antelope species, plus over 340 bird species including 35 raptors and 8 owl species. The tour departs Windhoek early and travels north through small towns and changing landscapes, stopping at a local craft market where artisans sell handmade wood carvings, textiles and other work. By early afternoon you enter the park and begin your first game drive, watching animals gather at waterholes as light softens over the savannah.

Day two is a full-day safari centered on two signature sites. The Etosha Pan is a massive salt flat covering roughly 4,760 square kilometers. During the rainy season it becomes a shallow lake that draws thousands of flamingos and water birds, while in the dry season it turns into a white expanse where zebras, springboks and elephants come to drink mineral-rich water seeping to the surface. The Okaukuejo Waterhole is a reliable water source that attracts elephants, lions and rhinos, especially at night, and you watch from a nearby viewing platform. The Okaukuejo Tower provides an elevated vantage point over the waterhole, offering views of animals drinking at dusk and dawn. You stay at Toshari Lodge or similar accommodation, where nocturnal wildlife activity near the famous waterhole continues after dark.

The final afternoon includes a game drive before the return drive to Windhoek. Your guide handles all logistics: entrance fees to the park, fuel, vehicle insurance, meals and a first-aid kit are included. You receive binoculars and field guides for the duration. A meet-and-greet service meets you at the start, and 24/7 assistance is available throughout the trip. You can book as a solo traveler or share the vehicle with other guests, and French-language guides are available on request.
