The experience

Your guide picks you up from your hotel and drives you straight into Maputo National Park to the spots where the wildlife congregates. The day is built around the animals you came to see: elephants, giraffes, hippos, impalas, zebras, nyalas, crocodiles, wildebeest, kudos, elands, waterbucks, warthogs, vervet monkeys, oribis, bushbucks, buffalos and the birds that move through the canopy. The guide knows where to find them and when, so you spend the day watching instead of searching.

Midway through, you stop at Lake Xinguti for a light lunch with sandwiches and a break from the vehicle. You eat while the wildlife moves around you, then continue the tour for the rest of the afternoon. When the day ends, your driver takes you back to your hotel or wherever you want to be dropped off.
