The experience
You start at cinéma español, where the guide introduces Tetouan's Andalusian roots and the city's layered history. From there you move through Hassan II and the Royal Place, then through a historic gate into the first narrow streets of the Medina itself. The architecture shifts as you walk: Andalusian-Moroccan details in the whitewashed walls, the proportions of the courtyards, the way light falls through the lanes. This is not a museum walk. The streets are where people live and work.
The tour passes through traditional shops and workshops where you see textiles, leather, woodwork and embroidery being made, not displayed behind glass. You spend time in the textile and embroidery quarter, where the guide explains the craft traditions Tetouan is known for. Then comes the Jewish quarter, where the guide discusses the multicultural history that shaped the city: the Hispano-Moorish heritage that UNESCO recognizes in the Medina's urban fabric. The quieter lanes that follow show traditional houses, courtyards, fountains and former merchant inns, the everyday architecture that holds the city together.
The whole walk takes two hours and stays at a relaxed pace. Your guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian or French, and bottled water is included. Children from age six can join. Younger children can ride in a stroller if needed.

Is this one for you?The guide's language is set when you book, so choose the one you speak most comfortably: the commentary on Tetouan's Arab, Andalusian, Jewish and Spanish heritage is detailed enough that following it matters. If you prefer to move at your own pace without a guide's narration, this structured walk is not the right fit. If you want someone who knows the city to explain what you are seeing as you walk, this one delivers it.
