The Experience

The tour starts with a drive to the Caves of Hercules, where you can ride a camel before exploring the caves themselves. From there, the route heads to Cap Spartel, the northern tip where the Mediterranean and Atlantic meet, before turning back toward the city center. The vehicle takes you to the Kasbah, where you walk through the museum and then down into the medina—the old walled city—to move through the Berber souks selling vegetables, fruits and other goods. The cultural stops anchor the second half of the day. You visit Saint Andrew's Church and the American Legation, a small museum housed in a 19th-century building. The tour also includes time with Berber women selling homemade goat cheese and a stop at the weaving cooperative to watch artisans at work on traditional crafts. These are not museum exhibits but working spaces where you see the goods being made.
