The Experience

Our guide waved us over just as the sun started to warm the mudbrick walls of Ait Ben Haddou. The village felt almost silent except for the soft crunch of our shoes on dusty paths and the distant call to prayer drifting from somewhere behind the hills. We ducked into shadowy alleys where cool air clung to the old stones, and every turn seemed to reveal another story—our guide pointed out tiny handprints pressed into the clay centuries ago by builders whose names are long forgotten.

We made our way to Ouarzazate next, passing a few kids kicking a ball near the old synagogue. The Kasbah Taourirt stood tall, its faded pink walls catching the light in a way that made them look almost golden.
