The experience
The day starts with pickup from your accommodation in the Erfoud area. A 4×4 vehicle crosses the piste toward Erg Chebbi, stopping along the way to take in views of the dunes before you reach the camp. Once there, you mount a dromedary for a camel trek that runs about an hour, timed to catch the sunset across the sand. The ride ends at the camp itself, where you'll have dinner and spend the night in either a luxury camp or a traditional nomadic tent, depending on what you booked.
The next morning brings an optional camel ride to watch the sunrise before breakfast and a shower at the camp. Your driver then transfers you back to where you started. The whole experience runs roughly 12 hours from pickup to drop-off, though the overnight stay means you're not rushing through it in a single afternoon.
