The Experience
The route moves south from Casablanca to Marrakech on day one, where you walk Jemaa el-Fna square and the traditional souks, then tour the Bahia Palace—a 19th-century palace that sprawls across rooms and courtyards built by successive grand viziers. From there the road climbs into the Atlas, passing through the Valley of the Roses before reaching the Kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, an earthen fortress town whose clay buildings huddle inside defensive walls, then descends to Ouarzazate.
Day four takes you east toward Merzouga: the route follows the Todra Gorges, where limestone cliffs rise 400 metres on either side of a river canyon, then crosses the Ziz Valley and its palm oasis. At Merzouga you ride camels into Erg Chebbi—the largest sand dunes in Morocco—and sleep in a luxury camp in a private Berber tent with toilet and shower. The next morning you head north through Midelt and Ifrane, a French colonial hill station set at 1,665 metres in the Middle Atlas, arriving in Fes by evening. Day six takes you west to Chefchaouen, passing through Ouazzane, a spiritual centre in northern Morocco. The final day returns you to Casablanca or Rabat, where you're dropped at your hotel.
Your driver-guide speaks English or French and handles all driving; you choose whether to eat at restaurants along the way or arrange meals separately. The vehicle is air-conditioned, stocked with bottled water and WiFi. Accommodation runs six nights in hotels or traditional riads—the choice depends on availability at each stop. This is a private tour, so only your group travels together.
