Ride the dunes, then slide back down on a board

Quad biking activity in Merzouga where you ride through Sahara dunes with a professional guide, climb to panoramic viewpoints, and sandboard down high dunes; includes quad bike, sandboard, water, tea and a guide who speaks English, Spanish, French or Italian. Choose between a 1-hour, 2-hour or 3-hour session at checkout.

The Experience

You start with a safety briefing from your guide, who walks you through how to handle the quad bike before you head out. A small bottle of water and tea are waiting, so you can settle in before the ride begins. Then you're off into the dunes, following your guide directly through the sand, climbing the high dunes to reach panoramic viewpoints where the landscape opens up in every direction — the kind of vantage point that stops you mid-ride to take pictures.

Once you're at the top, the sandboard comes out. You strap in and slide down the face of the dunes, trading the bike for the board and the speed of the descent. After that, you keep riding through the dunes and back toward the village, moving at a pace your guide sets. The whole arc — climbing, viewing, sliding, returning — stays inside the time you chose at checkout, so the route and the stops fit the duration you picked.

A professional guide leads the whole session and speaks English, Spanish, French or Italian, so language is not a barrier. If you arrive early, there's a swimming pool on-site where you can rest and have tea before departure.
