The experience

You'll be picked up and driven to a beginner-friendly break where the waves roll in long and the beach stays quiet. Before entering the water, your instructor walks you through the basics on the sand: how to lie on the board, how to pop up, where to position your feet. This part matters. You practice the motion without the ocean, so when you do paddle out, your body already knows what to do. Then you wade in with your instructor right there, adjusting your position and giving you tips as you catch waves.
