The experience
How do you get to the desert without a car, and what does the first hour actually look like? The tour picks you up from your Marrakech hotel and drives you to Agafay, where the camel ride starts as the sun rises. You mount a gentle camel and move across the desert floor while the light changes. This is the core of the experience, not a quick photo stop. The ride lasts long enough to feel the rhythm of it, not rushed.
After you dismount, you walk through the desert with your guide, who points out the landscape and answers questions about how people live here. Then you sit down in a Berber camp for breakfast: freshly baked bread, mint tea, and other Moroccan specialties. You'll wear traditional Berber dress during the ride, which is included. The whole outing takes 5.5 hours from pickup to drop-off.
The guide speaks English and travels with the group throughout. Infants can sit on an adult's lap or use a specialized infant seat. Children from age 3 can ride the camel. Strollers are welcome if you have a small child who won't ride. The tour is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, but it suits all other fitness levels.

Is this one for you?Pickup from your Marrakech hotel means you don't need a car or a ride arranged separately. You're collected and returned on a fixed schedule, which works well if you're staying in the medina or anywhere else in the city without your own transport.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Infant (3 to 9 years). Children under 3 can't be included in the booking.
Can I really ride a camel if I've never done it before?
Yes. The camels used on this tour are gentle, and the guide pairs each rider with an animal suited to their size and comfort level. First-time riders make up most of the group, so the pace is steady and the guide gives clear instructions before you mount.
What time does the sunrise ride start, and when am I back in Marrakech?
Pickup happens early enough that you're on the camel as the sun rises. The exact time shifts with the season. The full tour runs 5.5 hours, so you're back at your hotel by mid-morning, leaving the rest of your day free.
Is the Moroccan breakfast filling, or should I eat before I go?
The breakfast includes bread, mint tea, and other local specialties served in the Berber camp. It's a proper meal, not a snack, though the portions are traditional rather than heavy. Many travelers find it sufficient, but you can eat beforehand if you prefer.
Do I need to know anything about the Berber dress, or is it just for photos?
You wear traditional Berber dress during the camel ride as part of the authentic experience. It's provided and helps you blend into the setting. After breakfast, you can change back into your own clothes for the return to Marrakech.
