The Experience
You're picked up from your hotel at 9:00 a.m.—or you can meet the group at Argana Café—and driven into the Tahanout, Asni, Imnan, and Imlil valleys on a scenic route that changes with each one. The drive itself is the first part of the day: each valley has its own shape and light, and the road climbs steadily into higher country. You'll pause in the village of Azrou to step into a women's argan-oil cooperative, where you watch how the oil is traditionally pressed and taste it fresh. Moroccan tea comes with it, and the whole stop takes the pressure off the drive—it's a real place where something is actually happening, not a photo stop.
The guided walk happens in the Imlil Valley and runs 1 to 2 hours through quiet Berber villages, past waterfalls and orchards of walnut, cherry, and apple trees. Your guide is a local who knows the paths and the people living along them. The walk is gentle enough that it doesn't demand anything special, but the terrain is real—you're moving through actual villages and farmland, not a manicured trail. If the walk doesn't suit you, transport is there instead, so you still see the valley without the hike. On Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday, the route includes a lively Berber market where the day has a different energy altogether.
Lunch is home-cooked and served on a rooftop terrace with the Atlas peaks in front of you—the kind of meal that tastes different when you're sitting that high up and that far from anywhere else. You eat with the family who made it, and the view holds the whole day together. The drive back to Marrakech takes you out of the mountains around 5:00 p.m. The tour runs eight hours total, and the car is air-conditioned with WiFi if you need it.

Can I do this tour if I don't want to hike the whole way to the waterfall?
Yes. The guided walk to the waterfall is 1 to 2 hours, but it can be shortened, and transport is available if you'd rather not walk at all. You still visit the Imlil Valley and see the same villages and orchards—the walk is optional, not mandatory.
What's included in the price, and what do I pay extra for?
Hotel pickup and drop-off, the air-conditioned vehicle, your guide, coffee and tea, and all fees and taxes are included. The home-cooked lunch is paid separately to the family who prepares it (€9 per person, paid directly to them on the day). Gratuities for the guide are not included.
What language does the guide speak?
Your guide speaks English or French, depending on which option you book at checkout.
What are the Berber villages like, and what do we actually do there?
The villages in the Imlil Valley are working communities—you walk through them on the guided path, past orchards and past the homes and farms where people live. You're not touring a museum or a staged attraction; you're moving through a real place. The argan-oil cooperative in Azrou is a women's workshop where you watch the traditional pressing process and taste the oil fresh, with tea.
Is this tour suitable for children?
Yes, children from age 1 are welcome. Specialized infant seats are available in the vehicle. The walk can be shortened or skipped entirely, so families can adjust the day to what works for them.
What happens on different days of the week?
On Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday, the route includes a visit to a lively Berber market, which adds a different rhythm to the day. On other days, the tour follows the same valley route and waterfall walk without the market stop.
