Summary

Sunset camel ride Agadir with barbecue dinner and couscous

You’ll ride camels through Agadir’s dunes at sunset with a local guide, spot flamingos by the Souss River, then share a barbecue dinner with couscous and mint tea outdoors. It’s a relaxed evening where you’ll notice small details — like eucalyptus scents or laughter over dinner — that stay with you long after.

experience

What’s the experience like?

I didn’t expect to feel so tall, honestly. The first few steps on the camel in Agadir were wobbly — my guide Khalid grinned and said, “He’s gentle, just hungry.” There was this faint smell of hay mixed with something sweet from the nearby eucalyptus trees. We passed a group of kids waving by the road, and one of them tried to imitate the camel’s walk (not bad actually). I could see the Royal Palace walls for a moment through the trees — not close enough for details, but enough to imagine what’s behind them.

The Aghroud Forest was quieter than I thought it would be. Just our small group and the sound of hooves squishing into soft sand. When we reached the Souss River, Khalid pointed out flamingos standing like old men in pink coats. The air changed there — salty and cooler, with that river smell that reminds me of fishing trips back home. Sunset started slow, then suddenly everything looked gold. I tried taking photos but none really matched how it felt.

We crossed some low dunes as the sky faded — my legs were kind of numb but I didn’t mind. Dinner was set up outside, nothing fancy but real: grilled meat smoky from charcoal, couscous fluffy with raisins hiding inside, mint tea poured high so it foamed up. Someone played music on their phone quietly in the background. I still think about that first bite after riding for so long — maybe food just tastes better when you’ve earned it?
