Agadir Cable Car to Old Kasbah: tickets, shuttle & views
Rise above Agadir by cable car to the kasbah
The Agadir cable car is a round-trip ride from the Marina to the old Kasbah ruins at the top of a 238-meter mountain, with hotel pickup, shuttle service and both cable car tickets included. The uphill journey takes 10 minutes and the descent takes 8 minutes. Kasbah admission is separate and booked at the top.
Step-by-step itinerary
Agadir cable car tour and kasbah visit
- Pick up from hotel
- Drive to cable car station
- Receive cable car tickets
- Ride cable car uphill to old kasbah
- Explore panoramic views and kasbah
- Ride cable car downhill to station
The Experience
How do you get to the old Kasbah without a car or a long climb? The cable car leaves from the station near Agadir Marina and carries you straight up the mountainside in under 10 minutes. The cabin moves on a new D-line cable system — one of the best in the world, the operator says — and the ride itself is the main event: you watch the city shrink below, the Atlantic spread out on the horizon, and the Kasbah ruins grow larger as you approach the summit. The descent takes 8 minutes and follows the same route back down.
Hotel pickup and the return shuttle are included, so the only thing you arrange is when to go. The driver collects you from your hotel in Agadir, brings you to the cable car station and hands over both tickets. You board when you're ready and ride at your own pace — there's no guide narrating the route, no fixed schedule once you're in the cabin. At the top, the old Kasbah sits in front of you, destroyed by the 1960 earthquake and left as ruins; entry to walk around it costs extra and you pay at the ticket window up there.
The whole outing runs between one and three hours depending on how long you spend at the top and whether you linger over the views. The cable car itself is the draw — it's new, it's the first of its kind on the African continent, and the engineering is visible the whole ride. Bring a camera for the Atlantic side and wear layers; the wind picks up at 238 meters.
What’s included
- Round-trip cable car tickets.
- air-conditioned vehicle for pickup and return shuttle.
- hotel pickup from inside Agadir.
Operated by Agadir exkursion
Is this one for you? This is a shared cable car ride, not a private tour — you board with other travelers and the cabin moves on a fixed schedule. It suits anyone who wants the views and the novelty of the cable car itself without a guide or a group itinerary, and who has a hotel in Agadir so the shuttle pickup works. If you're staying outside the city or need a private vehicle, check whether Taghazout pickup fits your location and budget.

How long does the cable car ride actually take?
The uphill ride to the Kasbah takes 10 minutes and the downhill return takes 8 minutes, so the cable car journey itself is under 20 minutes round-trip. How much time you spend at the top is up to you.
What's at the old Kasbah once I get there?
The Kasbah are ruins from before the 1960 earthquake that destroyed much of Agadir. You can walk around the site and take in the views of the city and the Atlantic from the summit, though entry to the ruins themselves is a separate ticket you buy at the top.
Does the price include getting to and from my hotel?
Yes — hotel pickup from inside Agadir and the return shuttle are both included. The driver meets you at your hotel, takes you to the cable car station near the Marina, and brings you back after your ride.
Can I bring my children on the cable car?
Children are welcome from age 2 onward. Specialized infant seats are available if you need one, and the ride is suitable for all fitness levels.
What if I'm staying in Taghazout instead of Agadir?
Pickup from Taghazout is available as an add-on for 150 dh cash per person, paid when you book or at pickup.
