The experience

The route moves through three distinct landscapes. Day one takes you from Casablanca airport through the Hassan II Mosque and the capital, Rabat, ending in the Rif Mountains. Day two brings you to Chefchaouen, where the medina's blue-painted buildings sit in a small, walkable town. From there you drive to Fes, arriving on day three to spend a full day exploring the Royal Palace with its seven brass gates, the Jnan Sbil Gardens, the Nejjarine Museum of wooden crafts, and the Chouara Tannery (Africa's oldest and largest), where leather is dyed using centuries-old methods. The Merenid Tombs offer a panoramic view over the old medina before you return to your hotel.

Day four is the transition south. You leave Fes at 7 AM, pass through Ifrane (a mountain town often compared to Switzerland), then Azrou with its cedar forest, and continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains toward the Sahara. The landscape shifts from green and mountainous to dry desert as you approach Merzouga. After arrival tea, you ride a camel into the golden dunes to a desert camp where you spend the night in a tent, eat dinner, and listen to live local music around a campfire. Day five reverses the route back to Fes, stopping in Rissani and at the Ziz valley viewpoint. The final day is your departure to Casablanca airport.

Your driver is multilingual and remains with you throughout. The car is air-conditioned for the long drives, and a camel guide handles the desert portion. Hotel pickups and airport transfers are arranged. You do not arrange transport yourself.

Is this one for you?The 6-day span allows you to see four distinct regions (the coast, the Rif Mountains, the ancient medinas, and the Sahara) without rushing any single stop, but it also means early starts and long driving days, especially on day four when you cover the shift from mountains to desert. Choose this length if you want the full arc from city to desert and back. A shorter tour would skip either Chefchaouen or the desert camp.

Yes. Ticket types: Youth (12 to 17 years); Child (under 12).

What is the Royal Palace of Fes like when you visit it?

The Royal Palace of Fes has seven brass gates with matching knockers, each covered in intricate copper patterns and cedar-wood carvings that exemplify authentic Moroccan architecture. You view the palace exterior and the surrounding zellige tilework. The gates are the focal point of the visit.

How much time do you spend in Chefchaouen?

You arrive in Chefchaouen on day two and depart for Fes on day three morning. That gives you an afternoon and evening to walk the medina, see the blue-painted buildings, and visit Ras el-Maa Waterfall before an overnight stay in a hotel or riad.

What happens during the camel trekking in Merzouga?

You ride a camel at sunset into the desert dunes to reach the camp. After settling in, you have dinner and spend the evening around a campfire with live local music. You sleep in a tent in the middle of the dunes, then ride back at sunrise to the hotel for breakfast and a shower before driving back north.

Does the tour include meals?

Lunch is included on several days: a traditional meal in a local restaurant in Midelt, and a Berber village lunch on the return journey. Breakfast is provided at your hotel or riad each morning. Dinner is included at the desert camp on night five. Other meals are not included.

What is the Chouara Tannery and why is it on the itinerary?

The Chouara Tannery is Africa's oldest and largest tannery, located in Fes. Leather is dyed and shaped using natural methods that have remained unchanged for centuries. The visit shows how Moroccan handmade leather goods, bags, and handicrafts are produced, and you have the chance to purchase items directly.

When do you return to Casablanca?

On day six, your driver picks you up from your Fes hotel at 1 AM to drive you to Casablanca airport for your departure flight. The early pickup allows time for the drive and airport procedures.
