The experience

You leave Casablanca at 8:30 AM and drive toward the Atlas Mountains, passing through Berber villages and farmland before reaching Ouzoud Waterfalls. There you walk through the greenery and swim in the pools or take a boat closer to the falls, then eat lunch at a restaurant overlooking them. The first night is in a local guesthouse kasbah in Ait Bouguemez valley, where the sky at night has no city light pollution. The route is built around staying in the countryside and seeing how people actually live there (isolated villages, farming communities, nomadic herds) rather than moving between tourist checkpoints.

Day two takes you up to Massif Mgoune at 3,005 meters on off-road tracks, with stops to meet nomads and a picnic lunch surrounded by the landscape. You then drive through Mgoune Valley to visit a local rose oil cooperative, see the Rose Valley gardens, and reach Dades Gorge by evening, where you stay overnight in a panoramic kasbah. Day three starts with a one-hour walk through Toudra Gorge between towering canyon walls and the Toudra River, then continues to Merzouga. You stop for lunch with a local family, ride a camel over Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset, and sleep at a luxury desert camp with dinner and live music under the stars.

Day four moves east from the desert: you visit Rissani's souk market and the ruins of Sijilmasa, experience Gnaoua music with the Khamlia tribe, stop in Nkob village to see its 45 kasbahs and a rock artist's land art, drive along the Deraa River valley toward Agdz, and end in Ouarzazate at a riad or hotel. The final day heads back west through Ait Benhaddou Kasbah (a UNESCO site you explore on foot), the Ounila Valley, and Telouet Kasbah, with lunch at Tichka Pass before the highway returns you to Casablanca by evening. The Toyota Prado handles the terrain; your guide provides commentary in your language; water is supplied each day; meals mix outdoor picnics with restaurant and family meals featuring traditional Moroccan food.
