The experience

The route leaves Agadir heading east through Taroudant and Taznakhet, where Berber carpet weavers work in the town's souks. You pass through Ouarzazate, the film production hub of North Africa, then enter the Roses Valley before reaching Dades Valley for the first night. The drive covers diverse terrain in a single day, moving from the coastal plains into the foothills of the Atlas.

Day two takes you through Todra Gorges, where canyon walls rise steeply on both sides of the road, then onward to Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes. A camel trek at sunset is the centerpiece of the afternoon, and you sleep in a tent camp in the desert itself. Day three starts with an optional sunrise camel ride before the drive back west to Ait Ben Haddou, the fortified clay village that sits on the UNESCO list. On the final day, you return either to Agadir or continue to Marrakech, depending on which endpoint you chose at booking.

Transport is by air-conditioned vehicle throughout, and hotel pickup from Agadir is included. Overnight stays are in a standard hotel in Dades Valley and Ait Ben Haddou, with the desert night in a tent camp in Merzouga. The guide is live and speaks English or French.
