Step-by-step itinerary
Tour of Our Lady of the Rocks and Perast
- Voyage to Our Lady of the Rocks
- Visit 15th-century church and museum
- Stroll through Perast old town
- Voyage back to Port of Kotor
The experience
The boat leaves the Port of Kotor and crosses the bay in 20 minutes to reach Our Lady of the Rocks, an islet holding a 15th-century church and a small museum. You walk through both, moving past centuries of maritime history and votive offerings left by sailors and fishermen. The island sits close enough to shore that the church and its grounds feel intimate rather than remote, and the museum fills the space with objects and stories that explain why this particular rock mattered to the people who lived on the coast.
From there, the boat returns to Perast, a UNESCO-listed town where Baroque villas line the waterfront and narrow streets climb between ornate churches. You walk through on your own pace with the guide, moving past the architectural detail that made this a wealthy merchant port centuries ago. The town is small enough to cover in a single loop, so you see the main squares and the best-preserved facades without backtracking.
The whole tour runs about 90 minutes from pickup to return. Bottled water is included. Note that entry to Our Lady of the Rocks carries a €5 fee you pay directly on the island, and the boat ride itself means this tour is not suitable for travelers with spinal injuries or serious heart conditions.
What’s included

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Turkish and Serbian.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What is inside the church on Our Lady of the Rocks?
The 15th-century church holds a small museum with maritime artifacts and votive offerings left by sailors over centuries. The space itself is the main draw: a working chapel on an island, not a large museum.
Can I walk around Perast on my own, or does the guide lead the whole time?
You walk through Perast with the guide, but the pace is leisurely and the town is compact enough that you see the main sights (the Baroque villas, the churches, the waterfront) in a single loop without feeling rushed.
How long is the boat ride each way?
The voyage from Kotor to Our Lady of the Rocks takes 20 minutes. The return to Perast and then back to Kotor is included in the 90-minute total.
