Medjurečki Canyon Canyoning: Abseiling & Waterfall Jumps
Descend sun-warmed cliffs and splash through a canyon that never dries up
Medjurečki Canyon canyoning is a five-hour activity on Montenegro's Adriatic Coast where you abseil down 11 waterfalls, jump from heights of 2 to 8 meters at your choice, and slide down natural chutes with a live English-speaking guide. All gear (neoprene suit, helmet, harness and shoes) is provided. Children from age 10 are welcome, and moderate fitness is enough to complete the route.

The experience
Medjurečki Canyon is the most interesting canyon in Montenegro for canyoning, located between Bara and Ulcinj and fed year-round so the water stays cold and clear even in summer. The canyon runs through the village of Međurečje and is oriented so the sun warms the entire route: important because you'll be in the water for most of the five hours. The activity itself does not demand extreme physical fitness. What matters is a moderate level of conditioning and comfort moving through water and over rock.
During the passage you abseil down 11 waterfalls, jump from heights between 2 and 8 meters (you choose whether to jump at each one), and slide down a couple of natural rock chutes. The guide leads the group through the canyon, sets up the ropes and harness for each abseil, and stays with you the whole way. Neoprene suits with hoods, socks, canyoning harness, helmet and specialized shoes are all included. The guide also captures pictures and videos of the group that you receive afterward.
Public transportation runs to the canyon, so you don't need a rental car or private transfer to reach the starting point. The five-hour window means you can fit this into a day split between other activities on the coast, or make it the centerpiece of a morning or afternoon depending on when your group prefers to start.

Public transportation options are available nearby the canyon. The operator can advise on the closest stop and walking distance when you book.
