The experience
Kotor's Old town comes first. Your guide walks you through the cozy streets, sharing stories about Montenegro's maritime heritage and the Boka bay while you pass the landmarks that frame this UNESCO-listed harbor. The pace is unhurried. The point is to hear how locals see their own town, not to tick off a checklist of sights.
Then you head to a family home just minutes away from the Old town, where your host (described as warm and humorous) welcomes you in. You taste local wine, brandy or homemade juice before the real work starts. You choose from five menus: Parmigiana and Brodet; Cheese pie and Djuvec; Beaten fish and Black gnocchi in seafood sauce; Zucchini corn bread and Pasta Fazol; or Dried figs and cheese pie with Carrot gnocchi. You cook two dishes together, learning the recipes as you go so you can make them for friends and family back home. The meal itself (starter, main course and dessert) is what you and your host prepare and then eat together on the terrace, with another drink or two once the cooking is done.
The class runs four hours total. No transfer is needed if you meet your guide in Kotor. If you're staying elsewhere in the region, transfers can be arranged on request. English-speaking guides lead all classes. Other languages are available by request.
