The experience

The drive starts in Budva and heads inland toward Cetinje, the royal capital of Montenegro. Your first stop is the Brajici viewpoint, where the Adriatic Sea spreads below. After a short break you continue to Cetinje itself, then enter Lovcen National Park. The park sits on the border between two completely different landscapes (sea and mountain), and holds cultural and historic sites across its terrain. It was proclaimed a national park in 1952.

From Cetinje you move deeper into the park to Ivanova Korita, a well-known gathering place with views across to the Njegosev Mausoleum perched at Lovcen's peak. Then comes the off-road section: 10 kilometers of driving that brings you to Krstac, where the whole Boka Bay opens into view. The route continues toward Njegusi village, where lunch is organized in a traditional restaurant serving Montenegrin dishes. After eating, you drive down the old serpentine road, a winding mountain pass, that descends to Kotor, then return to Budva to finish.

The tour runs five to seven hours depending on pace and what you want to stop for. A live guide in English or Russian travels with you. Pickup is included from your hotel or meeting point. Park entry is covered. The route is suitable for all fitness levels, and if you're traveling with an infant, a specialized seat is available.
