The experience

The first day takes you into Khustai National Park, where you'll watch wild horses, goats, deer and marmots in their natural habitat. A small museum at the park documents the wild horse population, and you can contribute to their protection by naming a newborn foal if one has been born recently. You'll spend the night in a traditional Mongolian ger at the park's camp, with breakfast included and lunch and dinner available at the on-site restaurant.

Day two splits between two experiences. In the morning, you ride a camel across the Semi-Gobi desert's sand dunes and visit a nomadic family to learn how herders live on the land: their daily routines, their connection to livestock and the landscape, and the customs that have shaped their way of life for generations. In the afternoon, you travel to Kharkhorin and tour a museum holding artifacts spanning centuries of Mongolian history. You'll stay another night in a ger camp in Karakorum.

The final day is a guided tour of Erdenezuu, the ancient capital city, where you'll walk through archaeological sites that reveal Mongolian culture and heritage. Buddhist temples throughout the city display intricate artwork and statues representing different deities, offering insight into the spiritual beliefs woven through Mongolian history. Private transportation covers all three days, and pickup is included in the booking.
