Step-by-step itinerary
Chișinău city tour and wine cellar visit
- Walk in Stefan cel Mare park
- Visit Triumphal Arch
- Take photos at landmarks
- Tour Mileștii Mici underground wine cellars
The experience
The day splits into two parts: first, a walking tour through Chișinău's most recognized sights, led by your guide on foot. You'll see Stefan cel Mare park and the Triumphal Arch, a 13-meter structure built in 1846 to commemorate a Russian victory over Turkey. The guide will explain its history and the bells cast from captured Turkish cannons. The walking section takes about thirty minutes, with time to photograph the landmarks.
After the city walk, you're driven to Mileștii Mici, home to the world's largest underground wine cellars. The tour through the galleries happens by electric train, bicycle or in the vehicle itself, depending on what you choose. You'll move through the underground galleries and the Golden Collection, then stop at the Tasting Complex, where you sample three wines from the cellar. The wine tasting is included. If you want to extend it or purchase bottles, that's optional.
Your guide handles the route and timing, and the air-conditioned vehicle waits between stops. Lunch isn't included in the base tour, but your guide will point you toward good options in the city. WiFi is available on board. The whole experience runs four to five hours from pickup at your hotel to drop-off.
