The Experience

The day starts with Tulum, the walled city built on a cliff above the Caribbean. A certified guide explains why this ancient port stood beside the sea and walks you through the layout of the city—the temples, the palaces, the walls that once protected the trade routes. You'll have time to photograph the ruins against the water and move through the site at a pace that lets the scale of the place sink in.

From there you head inland to Coba, a city where trade was the principal activity and where the pyramids still rise above the jungle canopy. You'll spend around 1.5 hours exploring the buildings and structures, then sit down for a regional buffet lunch at a restaurant near the archaeological site. The meal gives you an hour to rest before the cenote.
