The experience
You arrive at La Bombilla de Parras, where the afternoon opens with a brief look at the museum's Edison collection and the Madero family legacy before the tasting begins. A certified sommelier then walks you through the fundamentals of wine (how to observe color, nose and taste) using three glasses from the region's most recognized producers: Casa Madero, Rivero González, Las Pudencianas and Camino Corazón, depending on what's available that day. Each glass comes in a different variety: red, white and rosé.
The pairing is the point. As you work through each wine, a charcuterie board arrives with local and national hams, cheeses, fruits and jams selected to complement what's in your glass. The sommelier explains how flavors work together, so you're tasting not just wine but the relationship between what you drink and what you eat. The whole session unfolds in a relaxed, conversational way: more dinner among friends than a formal class.
The experience runs about an hour and a half. A guide speaks English or Spanish, so language is not a barrier. Children can attend, though alcoholic beverages are for adults only. Infants can sit on a lap or ride in a stroller if needed.
