Summary

Dive deep in cabo’s marine park and corridor with local guides

You’ll wake up early in Los Cabos for three boat dives—first at Cabo San Lucas Marine Park, then along the quieter Corridor—with a certified local guide leading every step. Expect close-up moments with marine life, lunch between dives, and honest camaraderie above water. If you want one real day trip scuba diving from Cabo with everything included (gear, food), this is it.

experience

What’s the experience like?

It’s weird how quiet the marina feels at 7am — just the slap of water against boats and that salty, almost metallic smell you only get this close to the ocean. I was still half-asleep when our dive guide, Mario, handed me my tanks and grinned like he knew something I didn’t. He checked everyone’s certification cards (don’t forget yours), then we squeezed onto the boat with a couple from Guadalajara who kept joking about sea lions stealing their snacks. The sun was already sharp on the water, but not hot yet — perfect for diving.

The first tank went down at Cabo San Lucas Marine Park. I didn’t expect to see so much color — yellowtail snappers flickering everywhere, and these huge schools moving like one big shimmering blanket. At one point Mario pointed out a stonefish camouflaged so well I swear it wasn’t there until it moved. There was this odd moment where all you could hear was your own bubbles and then, out of nowhere, a sea lion zipped past us like he was late for something. I tried waving but he couldn’t care less.

We surfaced for sandwiches (honestly better than expected) and bottled water while drifting toward the Corridor. The vibe changed — less crowded, more open blue. The second dive felt calmer somehow; maybe because everyone had stopped talking so much above water. Someone spotted a turtle gliding by and we all just floated watching it until it disappeared into the haze. It’s funny how you lose track of time down there — everything slows way down, but also sort of speeds up? Hard to explain.

By the third tank, I was tired in that good way where your wetsuit feels heavy but you don’t want to be anywhere else. Mario kept checking on us, making sure nobody looked cold or spooked. He told us stories about diving here in hurricane season — wild stuff — and I realized how much these local guides know about every current and rock out here. Heading back to shore with salt drying on my skin, I kept thinking about that silent moment underwater with the turtle. Still do sometimes.
