The experience

You're picked up at your hotel in Cancun and driven to the dock, where you board a catamaran that holds up to 100 people. Check-in happens 30 minutes before departure, which gives you time to settle in before the boat pushes off toward Isla Mujeres. The crossing takes you across the Caribbean's clearest water: the kind that looks almost unreal when you're standing on the deck with a drink in hand. Once you reach the reef, you get snorkeling equipment and time in the water to see the fish that actually live there, not the ones in a tank somewhere.

After snorkeling, the boat heads to Playa Norte, the island's main beach, where you can swim in water so clear you can see your feet.
