The experience
You start from your hotel in either Cabos San Lucas or San José del Cabo and arrive at Tierra Sagrada ranch to meet your camel by name before mounting. The ride takes you through rugged desert terrain and along the ocean, where you'll pass ancient cacti, spot foxes, deer and squirrels, and during winter months, watch humpback whales from the water's edge. A brief stop lets you pose for a photo with the ranch's camel, the one known for giving kisses, before the caravan continues along coastal paths.
After the ride, your guide leads a walking tour through the tropical landscape to point out the region's diverse plant and animal life. You then reach a typical house where a tortilla-making class teaches you to prepare handmade tortillas from scratch. A traditional Mexican buffet follows, with pot beans, spicy sauces and views of the Pacific. The day ends with a tasting of tequila, mezcal and Damiana liquor, all served at the same oceanside location.
An air-conditioned vehicle handles the round-trip transport from your hotel. The guide is live and speaks both English and Spanish. The entrance fee to Tierra Sagrada (20 USD for adults, 10 USD for children) is not included in the tour price.

Live guide in English and Spanish.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 9 years); Infant (under 4).
What's it actually like to ride a camel for the first time?
You mount at the ranch and feel the camel's stride as it walks through desert and along the coast. The ride is steady and rhythmic, not jarring. Most travelers find the motion manageable, though the experience requires at least moderate physical fitness and comfort being on an animal's back for an extended period.
Can I bring my phone or camera on the camel?
Cell phones and cameras, including GoPro-type devices, are not allowed on the camel for security reasons. You can take photos during the walking tour, at the typical house and during the tasting.
Is the tortilla-making class hands-on, or do I just watch?
The tortilla-making class is hands-on. You learn to prepare handmade tortillas yourself as part of the experience at the typical house before lunch.
What wildlife might I see during the camel ride?
The desert and coastal paths are home to foxes, deer, squirrels and ancient cacti. During winter months, humpback whales are visible from the ocean side of the route.
How much time do I spend actually riding the camel versus other activities?
The camel ride is the centerpiece of the five-hour tour, followed by a guided nature walk, the tortilla class, lunch and the tequila tasting. The ride itself takes up the majority of the morning portion.
Do I need to be in great shape to do this tour?
You need at least a moderate level of physical fitness. The tour is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, back or neck problems, pregnant travelers, those under 5 years old, those weighing over 120 kg, or people with limited mobility.
