The Experience

Your driver picks you up early from your hotel in a private air-conditioned minivan and drives you straight to Chichen Itza. You arrive right when the site opens, which means you step through the gates before the heat builds and the crowds arrive. Your certified guide meets you with skip-the-line tickets already in hand—no queue at the entrance, just immediate access to one of the world's seven wonders.

Once inside, the guide takes you through a complete tour of the major structures: the Kukulkan pyramid, the Great Ball Court where Mayan teams played a ritual game, the sacred cenote where the Maya made offerings, and the observatory used to track celestial events. The guide brings the history to life with stories about how these structures were built and what they meant to the civilization that created them. You'll have time to ask questions and take photographs at each stop.

After the guided portion, you get free time to browse the site's shops for souvenirs before your driver takes you back to your hotel. The whole experience runs about 8 hours from pickup to drop-off. Water is provided in the van during the drive.

Top questions

What's actually inside Chichen Itza that I'll see on this tour?

The tour covers the major structures: the Kukulkan pyramid (the most recognizable building at the site), the Great Ball Court where the Maya played a ritual ball game, the sacred cenote (a natural sinkhole used for ceremonies and offerings), and the observatory. Your guide explains what each structure was used for and how it fits into Mayan civilization.

Do I really skip the line at the entrance?

Yes. Your guide has skip-the-line tickets and meets you at the gate, so you walk straight in without waiting. This is especially valuable in the morning when tour groups start arriving, and it means you spend your time exploring instead of standing in line.

What time does the pickup happen?

The pickup is early in the morning to get you to Chichen Itza right when it opens. The exact time depends on where your hotel is located, but the goal is to arrive at the site before the crowds and the midday heat.

Is the guide included, or do I pay separately?

The certified private guide is included in the tour price. The guide speaks English or Spanish and stays with you throughout the entire exploration of the site.

What's the difference between the Private Van 3 and Private Van 2 options?

The two options differ in vehicle size: Private Van 3 accommodates up to 3 passengers, and Private Van 2 accommodates up to 2 passengers. Both include the same guide, skip-the-line entry, and itinerary; you choose based on your group size.

Is this tour accessible for someone in a wheelchair?

The transportation is wheelchair accessible, and the site itself is wheelchair accessible. Let the operator know about accessibility needs when you book so they can confirm what areas of Chichen Itza you'll be able to reach with your guide.
