The day starts with the caves. You walk through the corridors of Cacahuamilpa, moving deeper into the mountain and watching the rock formations take shape—figures of animals, faces, buildings, or beings that emerge from the stone around you. The guide points out what the caverns hold and explains what you're standing inside. This is not a quick pass-through; the cave system is vast enough that you spend real time moving through it, and the scale of the place settles in as you go.

After the caves, the tour heads to Taxco. The town sits in a valley surrounded by large hills and mountains, and the streets are steep and cobbled. You walk through them on foot with the guide, moving past colonial buildings and discovering corners of the viceregal architecture—the kind of detail that doesn't photograph the same way twice. The Parish of Santa Prisca is the landmark most people come to see; it stands in the main square and is one of the finest examples of Mexican Baroque. The guide walks you through the town's layout and history, and you have time to take in the place without rushing.

The whole day runs 11 hours from Mexico City, including the drive both ways. You travel in an air-conditioned vehicle with a certified local guide who speaks English or Spanish, and the guide stays with you throughout—at the caves and in the town.
