The experience

You start on a stand-up paddleboard (SUP) in the Bacalar ecosystem with an experienced instructor who handles the route and the pacing. The tour crosses to the pirate channel, the part of the lagoon most travelers miss, then moves to the far side where the water stays undisturbed and the horizon opens up. The whole thing runs 2.5 hours, long enough to paddle without rushing but short enough to fit the rest of your day.

The sunset is the point. You'll be on the water when it happens, floating on the board with nothing between you and the light dropping over the lagoon. The guide brings water and handles photography so you can stay present instead of managing a camera. The board, paddle and lifejacket are all there. You show up in a swimming suit and the instructor takes it from there.
