Step-by-step itinerary
Hiking and Waterfall Swim Adventure
- Snorkel vibrant local reefs
- Hiking adventure with scenic views
- Swim at secret waterfall
The experience
The day starts with snorkeling on vibrant local reefs. You're in the water with mask and fins, not watching from a boat. After that comes the hiking portion: a scenic climb through North Mauritius with mountain views that open up as you gain elevation. The route ends at a hidden waterfall where you swim to cool off, the kind of stop that justifies the climb.
A local guide leads the whole sequence and handles the logistics so you don't have to think about transport, timing or where to eat. Lunch is included partway through, and the group stays small: no more than six travelers per guide. Hotel pickup means you don't need a rental car or directions. The van collects you and brings you back when the day is done.
The itinerary assumes moderate fitness: the hike has elevation and the snorkeling requires comfort in the water, but neither is extreme. Children from age 8 can join. Bring a towel and reef-safe sunscreen. Bottled water is provided throughout.

What's the snorkeling like on the North Mauritius reefs?
The reefs are vibrant and local, meaning you see the fish and coral that live in these waters year-round rather than a heavily trafficked tourist site. Depth and visibility vary by season, and the guide picks the best reef that day based on conditions.
