Step-by-step itinerary

Explore gardens, history, and markets

  • Visit SSR Garden flora and fauna
  • Discover sugar industry history at L’aventure du Sucre
  • Explore Caudan Harbor Waterfront
  • Shop and eat at Port Louis local market
  • Walk through Fort Adelaide

The experience

The taxi picks you up from your hotel and heads first to SSR Garden, a 37.5-hectare reserve built around both terrestrial and aquatic flora. From there, L'aventure du Sucre opens the history of the sugar industry in Mauritius: the crop that shaped the island's economy and landscape. The museum sits inside the garden grounds, so the two stops flow as one morning.

Port Louis itself fills the afternoon. The Caudan Harbor Waterfront is the modern face of the capital, with shops and restaurants facing the water. The Port Louis local market, the Bazarre, is the working heart of the city, crowded and loud, where vendors sell produce, spices, textiles and street food. Fort Adelaide, the colonial fortress overlooking the harbor, closes the day with views back over what you've seen. All entry fees are covered, and lunch is included.

Your guide speaks English or French and travels with you the whole day. The taxi is private, so the pace stays yours, and pickup and drop-off happen at your hotel.
