The experience
The tour starts with pickup from your hotel and ends with drop-off there eight hours later. In between, you move through the north at your own pace, stopping where you want and staying as long as you like. Cap Malheureux sits at the northernmost point, a fishing village built around a church with a story: its name means "Unfortunate Cape" because of the shipwrecks that happened there centuries ago. Grand Baie is the opposite: a lively tourist hub with multiple beaches, food trucks, restaurants and a turquoise lagoon where you can order fresh juice and watch the water. Pereybere Beach, also in the north, offers calm turquoise water and white sand, with a festive weekend atmosphere and shaded areas if you want to settle in.
The Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanic Garden sits about ten kilometres northeast of Port Louis in Pamplemousses, surrounded by century-old mango trees, spice plants and a small animal farm with giant Aldabra tortoises. Fort Adelaide, also called La Citadelle, perches on a hill overlooking the capital: a black stone fortress completed in 1840 under British rule, built to protect the city and now standing intact as a symbol of the end of slavery and the start of Indian immigration. Le Caudan Waterfront is the commercial heart of Port Louis, with shops, restaurants, a marina and a five-star hotel. Your driver handles the navigation and the route. You decide which stops matter and how much time each one gets.
The vehicle is air-conditioned, equipped with WiFi and phone charging, and your driver offers free photo shoots at any stop. Both English and French are spoken. Because the itinerary is yours to build, this tour works for travelers who know what they want to see but don't want to drive themselves, and for those who want to explore without the pressure of a fixed schedule or a group moving at someone else's pace.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English and French.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
Can I change which sites I visit once the tour starts?
Yes. The itinerary is customizable, so you can shuffle the order of stops or swap them for other sites in the north, east, south or west of Mauritius. Your driver will take you where you want to go.
What is Cap Malheureux like when I get there?
Cap Malheureux is a small fishing village at the northernmost point of Mauritius, centered around a church. The name translates to "Unfortunate Cape" because of shipwrecks that occurred there in the past. It's a quieter, more historic stop than the busier beaches.
Is lunch included in the tour?
Lunch is not included. You can eat at restaurants and food trucks in Grand Baie, Pereybere or Le Caudan Waterfront, or your driver can suggest local spots along the way.
Does the tour include entry to the Botanic Garden?
Entry to the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanic Garden is not included in the tour price. Your driver will take you there, but you pay for admission separately at the gate.
How does the pickup work?
Your driver picks you up from your hotel in Port Louis at the start of the tour and drops you back there at the end, so you don't need to arrange separate transport to and from the vehicle.
