The experience

You arrive at the water with no prior experience needed. The first 2 hours focus entirely on kite control: how to launch it, keep it stable in the wind, and recover it if it falls. This foundation matters because you can't ride the board until the kite responds to your hands without thinking. The instructor walks you through the different techniques on the water, and you'll practice relaunch and recovery until the movements feel natural.

Most beginners need about 3 days of lessons before they're ready to stand on the board, and between 10 and 15 hours of total practice to ride independently. The progression is built into the course: discovery level on day one focuses on the kite alone, intermediate on day two adds board awareness, and if you book a third session, the advance level gets you riding. Exceptionally quick learners sometimes reach independence in 8 to 10 hours, but the operator plans for the realistic timeline so you're not rushed.

All kitesurfing gear and protective equipment come with the lesson. The water in Mauritius stays warm year-round, and public transport reaches the lesson site, so you can book without arranging a private driver.
