The experience

The boat sails from Martinique along the Atlantic, moving between coral reefs and the smaller islands that dot the coast. La Baignoire de Joséphine, a small lagoon close to François, is a stop where you'll swim in turquoise water. Captain Ishmael steers the boat and talks through the day, sharing what he knows about the sea and the island's past.

Snacks and local drinks come during the stops. Lunch you can take on an island or back on board, whichever suits the day. The tour runs half-day or full-day depending on what you book, so the rhythm and the number of stops shift with your choice. Bottled water is provided throughout.

Service animals are allowed on board. Infants must sit on an adult's lap. The tour is not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health, though it suits all other fitness levels.
