Flyboard in Malta: Learn to Fly Above Water
Strap in and lift off the water in minutes
Flyboarding in Malta is a 45-minute water sport session where you learn to operate a jet-ski-powered board that launches you into the air. After a 15-minute safety briefing and dry-land instruction, a personal instructor guides you through 30 minutes in the water using a communication helmet so you can hear corrections in real time. Children from age 10 are welcome; weight must fall between 30kg and 100kg.
The Experience
You start on dry land with a 15-minute briefing that covers safety, board control and what to expect once you're in the water. The Flyboard itself is a platform attached to a jet ski — the jet ski operator controls the thrust while you focus on balance and movement. A personal instructor stays with you throughout, communicating through a helmet so you can hear corrections and encouragement without stopping. Most people achieve basic flight control within the first few minutes; the goal over your 30 minutes in the water is to progress from hovering to slalom turns, dolphin jumps and 360-degree spins.
The session includes a communication helmet, life jacket and a wetsuit (ranging from a 3mm shorty to a full 7mm suit depending on water temperature). You're paired one-to-one with an instructor who speaks English or Italian, which means the pace adjusts to your learning speed — some people pick it up faster than others, but the setup is designed so almost anyone can fly on their first attempt. The jet ski operator and your personal instructor work as a team to keep you safe while you're airborne.
The activity runs 45 minutes total, with the first 15 minutes on shore and 30 in the water. You'll need to be between 30kg and 100kg to participate. The location is accessible by public transportation, and all facilities are wheelchair accessible, though the activity itself is not recommended for people with spinal injuries, pregnancy, or poor cardiovascular health.

Can children do flyboarding in Malta?
Children are welcome from age 10 and up. They receive the same safety briefing and one-to-one instruction as adults, with the instructor adjusting the session to their size and confidence level.
What happens during the first few minutes in the water?
After you enter the water, your instructor communicates through the helmet and guides you through basic board control. Most people achieve their first flight within the first few minutes; the rest of the 30-minute session builds on that foundation.
Is there a weight limit for flyboarding?
Yes — you must weigh between 30kg and 100kg to participate. The Flyboard's thrust and balance are calibrated for that range, and bookings outside it cannot be refunded.
What's included in the 45-minute session?
The session includes the 15-minute safety briefing, the personal instructor, the Flyboard and jet ski, a communication helmet, life jacket and wetsuit. You pay one price for all of it.
Do I need to know how to swim or have water sports experience?
No prior experience is needed. The one-to-one instruction is designed for beginners, and the life jacket and helmet keep you safe while you learn. The instructor handles all the technical operation of the jet ski.
What language does the instructor speak?
Instructors speak English or Italian. You can request your preferred language when you book.
